3.000.000 digitized documents

A year after the initiation of the digitizing the civil status documents archive fund, 3 million documents were digitized and are now available for the employees of the Civil Status Service (CCS). The documents are stored in the Government Cloud ensuring a high level of security and availability.
Digitizing means the scanning and introducing metadata, quality checking and transferring to the MCloud.
The archive of the Civil Status Service comprises an overall of 20 mln documents, part of them originally digitalized. The CCS archive fund need to digitize 13 mln documents, of which 4 mln are currently digitized and the other 9 mln are to be digitized starting this summer.
The process of digitizing the CCS archive is carried out in parallel with the digitizing of the CCS services. Thus, 3 civil service e-services were recently launched. The documents comprised the three Civil Status e-Services are: the duplicate of the certificate of birth, the duplicate of the certificate of marriage, the duplicate of the certificate divorce, the duplicate of the certificate of death, the excerpt of the certificate birth, the excerpt of the certificate of marriage, the excerpt of the certificate of divorce, the excerpt of the certificate of death. The digitizing of the civil status archive shall enhance the productivity of providing services and shall stimulate the development of new government electronic services.
The objective of the CCS archive digitization is to enhance the efficiency of the Civil Status Service by implementing modern solutions with the aim to improve the quality of government services provided to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The project will last for two years, when 4 million civil status documents are to be digitized and an information system aimed at managing the digitized documents is to be worked out.
