Cybersecurity Month - Think Carefully Before You Click
Every October, the public is informed and made aware of the importance of cybersecurity and the steps being taken worldwide and nationally to protect the virtual space from cyber dangers and to provide users with higher security on the Internet.
This year, awareness activities are carried out under the motto "Think before you click" # ThinkB4UClick, and the Electronic Governance Agency (EGA) joined this initiative and, in addition to the current relevant activities, it participated in various events organized to support the high level of cybersecurity of public information systems and the development of users' cyber culture, in the context of intense digitalization and the shift to online activities during the pandemic.
The EGA Director, Olga Tumuruc, took part in the Moldova Internet Governance Forum 2021, which brought together experts and officials from different countries. Olga Tumuruc made a public presentation of the institution's activity and spoke about data protection and confidentiality and the security of information systems.
EGA was also represented at the workshop "Digital Transformation and Public Administration Reform: Ensuring Resilience and Risk Reduction", which took place on 12-13 October in Tallinn, Estonia. The event allowed the participants to share their experiences and best practices with a view to improving the resilience of local and regional governments to cyber threats from regional health infrastructure and building their capacity to mitigate the security risks of digitalization in public administration. The presented key topics were as follows: cybersecurity in digital transformation; information security challenges and standards; cybersecurity legislation, etc.
EGA's experts study the international experience in order to apply the best practices in the process of development, testing and implementation of electronic public platforms or services, while taking into account cybersecurity issues. From 27 to 28 October 2021, EGA's experts took active part in sharing their experience in digital transformation with experts from the French National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI) and shared their views and achievements in the field of cybersecurity.
At the same time, the e-Governance Agency offers relevant training to groups of interested people, children, young people and others in the form of workshops and webinars, on request, and adapted to the level of understanding and preparation of beneficiaries.
It should be noted that the ongoing concern of relevant Moldovan institutions for cybersecurity is reflected in the Government's Action Plan on Digitalization, which provides for new measures for cybersecurity development and alignment with European cybersecurity standards.
The European Cybersecurity Month, an initiative of the European Union, is dedicated to promoting this concept among citizens and organizations and providing up-to-date online security information by raising awareness and sharing best practices as cybersecurity is a shared responsibility.
