The World Bank’s mission evaluated the progress in the modernization of government services in the Republic of Moldova

The Modernization of Government Services Project (MGSP), launched in June 2018 to increase the efficiency, the quality and the accessibility of public services in the Republic of Moldova, has reached the middle of its implementation period.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the World Bank Group and the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Moldova. A particular attention is paid to the monitoring and evaluation of the results obtained at each stage of implementation.
In this context, between 11 and 15 January 2021, the World Bank’s mission supervising the implementation of the Modernization of Government Services Project reviewed the progress in the implementation of previously planned actions. The meetings were organized in the videoconference format and included discussions with the e-Governance Agency, with the representatives of the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Finance, as well as of the service providers selected for Project’s modernization assignments: National Social Insurance Office, Public Services Agency and National Employment Agency.
In conclusion, the World Bank experts welcomed the progress in Project implementation, noting in particular the importance of combining the efforts of all stakeholders, as well as adjusting actions to the new reality, taking into account the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The parties agreed on an updated action plan to be implemented by June 2021, when the next World Bank evaluation mission is expected.
The Modernization of Government Services Project is financed from the credit sources provided by the World Bank Group, with the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The total project budget is USD 22.4 million. The project will be implemented until the end of June 2023.
