THE WORLD BANK PUBLISHED THE FIRST CASE STUDY DEDICATED TO THE RM ROUTE IN THE GOVERNMENT’S e-TRANSFORMATION PROCESS

“... The Republic of Moldova is one of the first countries in the region and among the top 16 countries in the world to launch an open data portal." “...The initiatives of the Republic of Moldova to open the government and public data by capitalizing Informational Technologies will lead to the improvement of the public services, an increase in transparency and the promotion of innovation.” “... Moldova is now facing a double challenge: it needs to introduce reforms quickly on the one hand, while on the other hand the demand and the offer for Informational Technologies implementation are implemented on the long term."
These are just some ideas that you can find in the first case study research dedicated to our country: "The Journey of Open Government & Open Data Moldova", which was written by a group of experts under the aegis of the World Bank and published on the website www.scribd.com.
The study "The Journey of Open Government & Open Data Moldova" is based on surveys, observational data and interviews with actors regarding the key objectives and the development of the "Open Government" and the Republic of Moldova’s "Open Data" initiatives.
The paper also includes a comparative study on open data from Moldova in relation to initiatives of this sort from other countries, with emphasis on conceptual models of open data in developed and developing countries.
On the other hand, the study provides a unique insight into the access platform "Open Data" in Moldova and the usage patterns since its launch in April 2011.
Finally, the authors propose a roadmap for development within the e-transformation process, describing the main barriers and supporting factors for such initiatives so that they are sustainable and institutionalized on the long-term.
A separate section of the paper is devoted to the evolution of the Republic of Moldova’s Government initiative to open the governmental data and provides a unique insight into the data.gov.md portal and on the models of page usage.
