Workshop – „Open Contracting”- provided by the Center for Electronic Governance

On June 24-25, the Center for Electronic Governance will take an active presence within the „ Advancing open contracting in Moldova” workshop. The session will be entirely dedicated to the worldwide open contracting initiative, but also to the efforts made and results achieved in making the Moldovan public procurement more transparent.
The workshop will focus, in equal measure, both on the theoretical and the practical approach of the open contracting concept.
Open contracting refers to rules and practices encouraging the initiative of making the entire procurement process more transparent, implicitly, through an active participation of citizens in all contracting stages.
Some of the objectives pursued by opening up public contracts (Open Contracting) are:
- increase the number of contracts that are made public
- improve the quality of publicly available information on the contracting process
- increase accessibility to data on contracting
- increase opportunities and mechanisms to participate in all contracting phases
- increase the number of citizens involved in the contracting processes
- take more follow-up effectives measures following citizen feedback
The workshop will focus on presenting the open contracting concept and principles, underlining the best practices in the field and trying to identify the most suitable methods and tools to increase public participation in the contracting process. The practical component of the workshop will be focused on developing certain skills to visualize and monitor data on public procurement.
Increased transparency of public procurement in Moldova will pave a level playing field for the private sector prompting it to develop the most feasible offers for the Government. At last, the transparent procedures for awarding contracts and the active participation of citizens in all contracting stages will contribute to social development and inclusive growth.
