Starting with June 18, the real estate tax can be paid via the Governmental Service for Electronic Payments MPay. The real estate tax is a compulsory payment to the local budget, which is determined based on the real estate value, the taxable amount being considered the estimated value of these goods. The objects subject to taxation are real estates, including lands, buildings, constructions, apartments and other isolated premises, whose removal is impossible without causing damage to their destination. Subjects of taxation are legal entities and natural persons resident and non-resident in the Republic of Moldova.

The decision to connect these two services has already proven its effectiveness and in less than a week 1,000 transactions totaling over 250 thousand MDL were recorded.

The payments made through the MPay service are as secure as the one performed by bank, this is because MPay makes exclusive use of the banking payment tools. The amounts of payments made through the MPay service reach the service providers’ accounts, at the latest, on the second business day after the electronic transaction registration.
