Since the beginning of this year, more than 6 billion lei have been transferred to citizens through MPay, the Government Electronic Payment Service. It is a new record for the MPay platform, this time in the distribution of social benefits.

As from this January, pensions, allowances, compensations and other types of social benefits are transferred automatically, due to the support provided by e-Governance Agency, which came up with modern digital solutions and proposed the new payment method. The new automated payment distribution system provides the necessary consistent support to the National Social Insurance Office (NSIO) to ensure the payments in a timely, transparent and efficient manner.

Since the start of this project, the MPay platform has processed payments for about 1 million 500 beneficiaries per month, i.e. an average of about 2 billion lei per month. Of the total amount of registered transactions, 48.44% were paid online, while 51.56% were distributed to bankcards.

The e-Governance Agency notes that the results recorded during this period, following the application of the electronic payment system MPay, demonstrated a good optimization of the process of distribution of social payments, savings to the national budget, best use of financial resources obtained in the interest of beneficiaries of social payments.

This collaboration between EGA, NSIO, National Bank of Moldova, Ministry of Finance, SE "Posta Moldovei" (Moldovan Post) and other entities is the key technological solution for the digital development of public administration. It is an example of making public information accessible and transparent and another step towards the development of digital governance.
