General News

The Republic of Moldova moved up 11 places in the world ranking for e-government development, ranked the 69th, according to the United Nations’ (UN) Global E-Government Survey 2012. Nevertheless, the Republic of Moldova is behind the European countries and behind its neighbors, Romania (ranked the 62nd) and Ukraine (ranked the 68th).

The top 10 countries with high level of e-Government includes the Republic of Korea, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Denmark, USA, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Singapore.

According to the document, the Republic of Moldova shows the growth of the Index e-GRI from 0.4611 (in 2010) to 0.5626 (in 2011) exceeding the world average.

E-GRI indexes reflects the state of technological infrastructure and the level of educational training in the country in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sphere and indicates the extent to which government uses ICT capacity for economic and social development of the country and citizens. Quantitative composition of E-GRI Index is based on “web” page evaluation, telecommunication infrastructure and human capital.

The UN report shows the national administration's ability to use information technology to provide public services and presents the situation in 190 UN member states.
