General News

The Republic of Moldova became a member of the International Council for IT in Government Administration (ICA) during the annual conference in Jerusalem, Israel, held during October 22nd-25th. The representatives from our country that attend the event are the executive director of e-Government Center (EGC), Stela Mocan, the chief technology officer of EGC, Iurie Turcanu and the director of the Center for Special Telecommunications (CST), Sergiu Popovici.

International Council for Information Technology in Government Administration is a non-profit international association. It promotes and facilitates the informal exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences on management, organizational impact and use of information technology (IT) in central government's administration. ICA was founded in 1968 as a result of an international symposium, held in Jerusalem.

Among the current members of ICA there are Australia, Austria, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, EU, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Taiwan, Singapore, Slovenia, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

The three-day annual conference of ICA offers its members the opportunity to participate in establishing a comprehensive picture of IT worldwide trends, allowing each member state to report on major events related to the management and use of IT and to seek advice from colleagues. In addition, the working sessions provide an opportunity for discussion with other members of ICA in order to identify and analyze the important issues for all jurisdictions.

ICA membership helps to establish a network of contacts in the 25 member states and other relevant organizations. These contacts help members, allied governments and organizations to plan and implement IT activities in accordance with what works worldwide.
