Over 50% of Moldovans support e-government

Government transformation technology, precisely e-government will improve quality and efficiency in offering public services. This is the opinion of 55% of respondents of the national study "Omnibus 2012" carried by "CBS AXA". 18.4% of respondent do not see the e-transformation reform as a benefit, and 26.6% did not know how to respond to this question.

Over 40% of participants in the study stated that they know e-Government Center (CGE), 27.1% heard about CHE, while 13.3% know things about the institution's projects. Moreover, 58.2% of participants mentioned they do not know the E-Government Center's activities.

Being asked if, when asking for a public service over the internet or sending a petition online, they would consider personal data, only 6.8% of respondents answered yes. 23.6% said they would rather not trust electronic services. 18.9% did not know how to answer this question.

Should they be made to chose between public services online or offline, 48.4% of those questioned would chose online, while 41.4% would chose the traditional manner for providing a public service. 10.2% of respondents could not offer an answer.

Being asked about the benefits of Government e-Transformation, advanced application of information technologies in the public sector, participants in the sampling mentioned:

- Will e-transformation essentially contribute to fighting corruption with regard to public institutions and citizens? 46.5% marked this as a potential benefit while 26.3% did not agree in this context and 27.2% did not know how to answer the question.

- Will e-transformation make government - citizens relationship more transparent? 47.6% of the ones questioned see this as a potential benefit while 22.6 do not see this as a benefit and 29.8% could not offer a response.

- Will e-transformation make interacting with public institutions more comfortable? 51.4% of respondents regard this as a potential advantage while 19.5% do not see it as such, and 29.2% did not know how to answer this question.

- Will e-transformation diminish public institutions expenditures and make their activities more efficient? 46.6% of participants regard this as a benefit that can be related with e-transformation, while 23.1% do not agree with this and 30.3% cannot answer this question.

53.9% of respondents stated that they agree with e-transformation reform, while 19.4% are indifferent. The "Omnibus 2012" study, carried by Center forSociological and Marketing Studies "CBS-AXA" was developed in the period May 26th - June 4th, on a sample of 1,092 persons from 80 villages in the R. of Moldova.
