General News

The Republic of Moldova participated in the high level summit of the International Coordination Council on the launch of “Open Government Partnership” held in Washington, USA. Chisinau has been invited to join this initiative.

The basis for "Open Government Partnership" has been built by 8 countries that are actively promoting the open government: USA, United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, Philippines and Indonesia.

"Open Government Partnership” is a means by which governments must become innovative and accessible institutions, strengthen their transparency, accountability and openness in response to citizens' needs.

The objectives of the new initiatives include: increased responsiveness of the public sector, combating of corruption, promotion of economic efficiency, harnessing of new technologies and improvement of service delivery.

Republic of Moldova is the 16th country in the world to provide access to public data of the government (Open Data) and the first country to launch the Public Spending Database within the BOOST initiative of the World Bank.

In September 2011, during the UN General Assembly in New York, USA, the eight member countries of the International Coordination Council of the „Open Government Partnership” will sign the Declaration on Open Governments and submit action plans to achieve objectives of this initiative.
