THE NEW VERSION OF THE PORTAL DATE.GOV.MD FACILITATES THE ACCESS TO OPEN GOVERNMENT DATA AND ENCOURAGES THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT AND CITIZENS

The e-Government Center launches today the updated version of open government data portal date.gov.md.
The portal contains information generated by government institutions, such as information on budget expenditures or information about consulates and embassies existing in the country. Based on these data, companies, organizations or individuals can develop their own applications and analyses, designed to improve the quality of citizens’ life and developing the business environment.
“The new version of the portal date.gov.md is interactive one. It allows the citizens to easily access the sets of data, to request certain information which they find useful, to express their opinion and suggest directions of platform improvement. The voice of the citizens can be easily heard by the ministries, and the dialogue between the authorities and citizens is extremely important to open the data which are useful for public opinion”, Irina Tisacova, Open Data Coordinator of e-Government Center stated.
Simultaneously with the launch of the new version of date.gov.md portal, the web version of Public Procurement Database (BOOST) is also launched. This application provides an easier visualization of data structured per years, sectors, types of procurement, economic categories and regions. These two launches are part of the Program for opening government data, whose main goal is to raise interest towards Open Government Data ant their use.
The open data portal is the expression of interest of the Executive of the Republic of Moldova to develop a transparent government and implement the innovations in supporting economic opportunities for citizens.
The initiative of the Republic of Moldova joins the global effort supported by many countries within the Open Government Partnership.
The launch coincides with the international workshop "Opening Up Development", organized by the World Bank. The event is attended by 10 countries, including the Republic of Moldova. Participants exchange their experience in opening government data.
The European Commission has recently launched a strategy which is applicable for Open Data in Europe, which should boost the EU economy, bringing benefits in an amount of 40 billion EURO each year.
