Throughout 6 years since its launch, the Government Electronic Signature Service MSign has recorded millions of uses. The number has risen sharply recently, when most activities and services went online because of the pandemic. This situation has also led to a better awareness of the benefits provided by the electronic signature and other services that can be accessed remotely.

In just one year, 2020, more than 20 million signatures were applied. Every year, MSign continues to be among the most popular and most used e-Governance products in the Republic of Moldova.

The latest data show that from January to April this year, over 7 million signatures were successfully applied through MSign, which means an average of 1.8 million electronic signature operations per month. This is a significant increase compared to the same period last year, when the monthly average was 1.4 million signatures.

In the first quarter of 2021, the integration of governmental information systems continued, including the integration in the production environment of 3 information systems and integration in the test environment of 11 information systems. Currently, a total of over 80 information systems, owned by both public institutions and economic operators, are integrated with MSign.

In April 2019, the improved and extended version of the Government Electronic Signature Service MSign www.msign.gov.md was launched. The new version offers a number of functionalities: the possibility to sign and check multiple files in a single action; installation as a PWA application; new user interface, rebuilt from scratch; improved performance in most use scenarios; 100% compatibility with integrated services, etc.

The e-Governance Agency encourages all public entities to use the electronic signature in their daily work, as the use of the electronic signature allows the full digitization of work processes in public administrations, saving time and costs for the printing, facsimile transmission or posting, copying or filling out paper forms. The electronically signed document has the same legal power as a paper document with a handwritten signature.

Useful information for those interested in the integration with the government systems MPass and MSign can be found at: https://mpass.gov.md/info/procedure.
