Moldova supports regional digital transformation initiatives
Olga Tumuruc, Director of e-Governance Agency (EGA) represented the Republic of Moldova today, 26 October 2021, at the 10th Annual Forum of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR). The anniversary event was dedicated to innovation and digital transformation and brought together high-level personalities such as members of the Government, Secretaries of State, heads of institutions responsible for digitalization, as well as the representative of the European Commission in the field of research and digital innovation.
The participants discussed the digital priorities of the governments they represent in areas such as: climate change, agriculture, education, gender equality, digital and electronic inclusion, actions to respond to global crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic etc.
In her speech, Olga Tumuruc spoke about the importance of investments in the digital sector and the global priorities related to common actions in the digitalization process. "I am honoured to participate in this event and to represent the Republic of Moldova in these actions and important regional initiatives for the development of the digital area. It is certain that only through joint efforts of collaboration and cooperation, by maintaining a sustainable partnership, we will be able to create efficient mechanisms to adapt and apply innovations and digital solutions for the common benefit of development”, EGA Director said.
Olga Tumuruc also spoke about digital innovations that have proven to be an effective tool to meet the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that digitalization during the pandemic is no longer just an option, but a necessity for citizens and public institutions, the private sector and the academia.
EGA Director also talked about the importance of the active participation of states with a high degree of digitalization in the international adjustment and alignment of best practices on the digital transformation process, to help other states catalyse digital modernization efforts in an accelerated manner. "Moldova has acknowledged the importance of digital innovation, so we currently have the full support of the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization to coordinate the process of modernization of electronic public services, applying best digital modernization practices and models", Olga Tumuruc added.
The Annual Forum of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region is organized this year jointly by the Slovak Republic, the European Commission, the Transnational Danube Program, with the support of the Danube Strategy Point. The event takes place between 26 and 27 October 2021, in hybrid format and brings together participants from over 16 countries, including: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, Ukraine, etc.
