„MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME IN CYBERSPACE, BE SAFE”
In Chisinau took place the first activity during "Government Information Security Week" – a round table named "The aspects of interaction between network and electronic communications services providers and the organs of state on security policy implementation for service and data transmitted users’ infrastructure". Discussions were focused in particular on how public institutions can provide information security, protection and privacy. There were also discussed legal issues regarding information security. The roundtable was opened by Mihaela Iacob, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), who spoke about the importance of information security in the digital era. At the meeting there was also listed a number of risks regarding information security. According to Natalia Spanu, representative of the State Enterprise “Special Telecommunication Center”, the risk consists in the lack of understanding of the existing problems in the field, but also managers’ careless attitude towards the dangers of unsecured exchange data and information. According to participants, many public servants use mail.ru, rambler.ru or gmail.com services instead of professional Internet domain addresses .md, which is neither right nor safe. They reiterated the need to implement interoperability framework, a platform that facilitates data exchange between public authorities. Government Information Security Week, organized by the Moldovan Government in partnership with the Electronic Government Center, is held under the slogan "Make yourself at home in cyberspace, be safe" and includes a series of activities during October 15-19. The activities are addressed to public servants, businesses, civil society and citizens.
