The M-Cloud Platform is officially launched in the Republic of Moldova

In the framework of the international seminar “Promoting efficiency and innovation in the Government through Cloud Computing Technologies”, the Electronic Governance Center is launching the common technological Platform M-Cloud. The Platform, which won the international prize “Best Cloud Project in Central & Eastern Europe”, is implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
The Cloud Computing is changing the traditional way how institutions function and offers the solution for the reorganization of an institution’s informational structure. The system allows to discard complicated software, which are different for each institution, with proprietary operating systems.
“The technological platform M-Cloud is a project on which the Government has worked from 2011, which comes to strengthen the technological infrastructure for quality electronic services delivery”, has declared Stela Mocan, the Director of the Electronic Governance Center.
Today, there are over 100 data centers throughout the country which are used by the public sector. In addition, each center requires its own data space, own offices, electric power, cooling systems, storage space, software and its own team of engineers to maintain and operate these systems.
"We have the goal to organize an as efficient as possible governance. We want to serve the citizens of the Republic of Moldova quickly and with quality, by applying the concept of e-Governance and electronic public services. Each day I wish that we make concrete steps to reach this goal", has said Vlad Filat, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova.
By using the Cloud technology, many institutions use common applications, stored in a single data center.
"The digital revolution offers institutions increase of electronic services quality, IT innovations and increase of Government transparency. The implementation of the M-Cloud technological platform, which is applied only in several countries in the world, will revolutionize the public services provided by the Government. These will become faster and will have lower costs. Also, the M-Cloud Platform will modernize the Government and will help it to increase the provision of electronic services, to facilitate the European integration of the Republic of Moldova", said Dirk Schuebel, the Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova.
The advantages of the M-Cloud system are: saving resources, eliminating maintenance costs, increasing the quality of data management, increasing informational security, providing quality services to the citizens and the business environment.
