“The technological modernization of the government does not depend on technology as much as on political will. We have this will, and things are starting to change for the better ". This was the declaration of the General Secretary of the Government, Victor BODIU, the national coordinator for e-Transformation, at the session "Smart Government" of the ICT Summit. The official outlined the Government’s vision and activities for the technological modernization of the public sector.

The Executive Director of the e-Government Center, Stela Mocan mentioned that Moldovans want to access a government in real time, which is why the public sector representatives have to come up with innovative solutions to connect to people's needs.

"The intelligent government is mobile, social and open. The intelligent government uses new technologies and is in the right place at the right time for its citizens", stressed in his speech, Alex Howard, O' Reilly Media correspondent from the U.S.A.

According to Oleg Petrov, the coordinator of the e-Government Transformation Project in the World Bank, the concept of open government is not new. "The breakthrough is the power of the technology that turns dreams into reality. We must learn to use this power", says Petrov.

The ICT Summit started on May 16 and will last for two days.  The event will be attended by 70 national and international experts. The E-Governance Center is co-organizer of the event.
