January 29, 2014. During the meeting held today, the Government has approved the Decision on the governmental technology platform MCloud common use. Thus, by using MCloud, the Central Public Authorities (CPA) will securely host information systems and ensure provision of quality electronic services, thus contributing to the e-Government Transformation achievement.

The MCloud Platform represents an innovative infrastructural model providing the public authorities with several benefits, including: maximum use of IT resources at low costs; reduced costs for purchasing hardware equipment and software licenses in the public sector; reduced risk of losing data held by the CPA following incidents; improved operational efficiency and increased digitization speed of public services by IT directions and departments within CPA authorities.

The State Chancellery together with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Informational Technologies and Communication and the Center for Electronic Governance shall set up a working group which, within a period of three months, will conduct an inventory of the automated information systems of ministries and other central administrative authorities subordinate to the Government, including those of the organizational structures from their sphere of competence, and submit proposals for their migration  within the Government Technological Platform (MCloud).

Today, the MCloud Platform hosts information systems belonging to 14 ministries and government agencies: State Chancellery, Material Reserves Agency, Ministry of Interior, Tax Service, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Health Insurance Company, National House of Social Insurance, Labour Inspection

The joint government platform MCloud was launched by the Government on February 14, 2013 and is being technologically operated by the “Center of Special Telecommunications” State Enterprise.

In 2013, Republic of Moldova has won the international “Best Cloud Project in Central & Eastern Europe” prize by implementing the MCloud Platform project.
