Government Data Portal date.gov.md is an innovative 3 in 1 solution to access public sector data: convenient, simple and lawful

Today, at the 2019 Media Forum, the Government of Moldova, through the e-Governance Agency, announced the launch of the Government Data Portal – a one-stop shop of public data, which aims at substantial diversification of categories of data offered to users for viewing and reuse, the range of users, the data view mode and the processing of available data, the types of access to data held by public authorities.
The Government Data Portal includes 3 basic modules, among which the former Open Government Data Portal, launched by the Government of Moldova in April 2011, and provides access in real time and in a transparent manner to different types of data held by public authorities, including public interest data, which can be retrieved or viewed upon authorization and under legal basis.
While leveraging the potential of other e-governance products, such as the Government Interoperability Platform, as well as electronic authentication, the Governmental data portal provides users with a substantially extended, enhanced, simplified and much more user-friendly experience of accessing, browsing and viewing public sector data.
Thus, from now on, users of the modernized portal date.gov.md, including media representatives, as well as all other categories of beneficiaries, can access online 3 categories of data:
- Open data sets of ministries and central public administration institutions, published in computer readable formats. Using open government data, in the form of primary data, directly from the source, (private and public) legal entities and individuals can develop applications with a major social impact for citizens, businesses and others, can perform analyses and research in the fields of interest/activity, etc. (Open Government Data as part of the global Open Government Partnership initiative);
- The "Search in public data" module, which allows easy and user-friendly search, extraction, browsing through public data from various registers and databases held by public authorities and published for quick and easy viewing (public data about companies, individual entrepreneurs and legal entities, cadastral data, etc.);
- The module for accessing public interest data, including personal data from state registers and information systems, by categories of users who, based on a purpose and legal basis, have the right and opportunity to access them by electronic authentication and by proving the legal basis (authorized access). This module – based on the integration of the former MAccess Platform developed by EGA in the portal date.gov.md – also allows the categories of users who do not have information systems or are not involved in data exchange using the MConnect platform to enjoy a faster and more convenient electronic access to data for which they have a purpose and legal basis.
