Governance e-Transformation at the local level was discussed during an information session with the representatives of local authorities

On 10 June, the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) and the e-Governance Agency (EGA) organized an online information session on e-Governance Services for Local Governments.
The event was attended by representatives of local authorities and CALM, the State Chancellery, "Comunitatea Mea" program, "MA IMPLIC – Project on civic engagement in local governance" and "EU4Moldova" project.
The EGA representatives presented a number of opportunities for localisation of the Governance e-Transformation agenda, improving the quality, accessibility and transparency of public services at LPA level, improving internal performance of local authorities, e-transformation of services provided at local level, participation in the Government Interoperability Framework through the MConnect Government Interoperability Platform, opening public sector data and making use of government data already available on the Government Data Portal date.gov.md, the process of integrating services with the Government e-Payment Service MPay and the benefits of using it, as well as the concept of Universal Service Delivery Centres (CUPS) to be piloted locally in the near future and possibly replicated over the next years.
The EGA Director, Mr. Iurie Țurcanu, stressed that the essence of the Governance e-Transformation agenda is the modernization of public services through re-engineering, simplification, optimization, digitization, in direct co-creation with beneficiaries, and the purpose of the agenda is to provide citizens with public services and public sector data of a high quality, availability and accessibility.
e-Governance products and modernization methodologies enable the streamlining of internal processes managed by all public authorities and represent a potential that should be capitalized at local level.
Mr. Iurie Țurcanu and CALM representatives reiterated the openness and intention of the parties to develop jointly a concept of Smart Municipality, which would be piloted and subsequently adjusted and replicated by reusing the concept by all mayor's offices in the country.
The CALM Executive Director, Mr. Viorel Furdui, mentioned that this is a very good start of cooperation with EGA. "In the context of developing the concept of the LPA reform, an initiative undertaken by CALM and Comunitatea Mea Program, the e-Governance or Smart Municipality component is extremely important."
