Exchange of Experience under the "Open Data" Initiative

E-Government Center (EGC) participated in experience exchange with other countries within the International Conference „Open Government Data 2011”, held on June 16 in Vienna, Austria.
Along with speakers from Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Belgium and the Czech Republic, the coordinator of the „Open Government Data” from the EGC, Vlad Manoil, made a presentation of the action plan within the „Open Data” initiative and talked about the successes of the Republic of Moldova in this area: launch of open data portal, the decision of the Prime Minister Vlad Filat on publication of open data, publication of public expenditures within the BOOST project etc.
Vlad Manoil also raised the issue of difficulties in implementing the “Open Data” concept. He also talked about the portfolio of GEG medium and long-term activities , activities designed to catalyze open data publication and use by the society.
Moldova is among the 16 countries in the world providing access to public data of the government. According to Prime Minister's decision on open data, government ministries and institutions are obliged to publish monthly three public data sets.
