Emotions and adrenaline at Cyber Olympics – the IT competition promoting cyber security

The e-Government Center in partnership with Estonian colleagues launched for the first time in Moldova the competition “Cyber Olympics”, which was held in the context of Cyber Security month and aimed not only development of the IT capacities of young people, but also promotion of digital security.
At the competition held yesterday, on October 29, 17 participants were involved in an interactive game, where they defended against cyber-attacks. The participants passionate about IT were engaged for a few hours in a competition full of dynamics and competitiveness. The fight was sharp, but after aseveral hours of intense challenge a winner was established – Sandu Kiritsa, a pupil aged only 15.
“I’ve won a laptop and in addition the game has offered me information about cyber security. I didn’t expect to be the best. I’ll surely participate in this competition next year.” the winner of the competition, Sandu Kiritsa, said.
Representatives of the e-Governance Center, along with partners of the event, started the competition, wishing the participants success.
“Cyber Olympics has been a good experience for the Estonians. I’m very excited for participants. We wish them good luck and to enjoy the game!” representative of e-Governance Academy in Estonia (Raul Rikk) said.
“The e-Government Center encourages young people to get involved in IT events. Cyber Olympics opens other doors as well. We hope that next year you will participate in this competition in other countries as well”. Michelle Iliev, Partnerships and Public Affairs Advisor at the EGC said.
The participants of the Cyber Olympics were delighted by the game, especially since they expanded their knowledge about cyber security and were duly awarded.
The big prize was offered by AV-MACROCOM, but awards did not end here. All the participants went home with prizes offered by Cyber Olympics. “Bina System” company offered to the winner of the 2nd place a Pocket Book (e-reader) and Gift Cards worth 50 USD. Moreover, “Bina System” representative invited participants to join their team. Special Telecommunications Center offered to all participants an e-signature and representatives of “Reliable Solutions Distributor” company offered to the participants bags with prizes and handed them Bitdefender Family Pack licenses.
Cyber Olympics game was taken over from Estonia, based on Linux system it was organized by the e-Governance Center, in partnership with representative of the e-Governance Academy in Estonia in the context of the Cyber Security Month. The organizers want to make of this competition an annual tradition.
The Cyber Security Month takes place in over 30 countries in which over 240 IT activities are carried out.
