The Electronic Governance Center has participated in the first GPSA CAMP from the Republic of Moldova

The representatives of the Electronic Governance Center have participated Tuesday, 19 February, in the first GPSA CAMP (GPSA – Global Partnership on Social Accountability), held in Chișinău. The event organizers aimed to support civil society organizations to apply to the First Call for Projects, part of the GLOBAL Partnership on Social Accountability, launched by the World Bank. The Global Partnership on Social Accountability is a new global multiparty coalition, which includes donors, governments and civil society organizations. The goal of this partnership is to contribute to improving the results of development processes in member countries, by strengthening capacities of participation, involvement and feedback to citizens. The Partnership is funded by several donors, the World Bank contributing with 20 million USD by 2016.
In December 2012, the Government of the Republic of Moldova has sent to the World Bank a letter of accession to the Global Partnership on Social Accountability, with the purpose of supporting the civil society in projects of increasing transparency, social accountability and monitoring the quality of public services. Following this request, on 11 February 2013 the World Bank has launched the first call for projects for civil organizations from member states, the deadline for project proposals submission being Thursday, 14 March 2013. Projects will be financed with amounts of 500,000 - 1,000,000 (US Dollars). The implementation period is 3-5 years.
The support offered to this Partnership’s member countries is a strategic one. It is based on several key pillars which will result in concrete actions: Transparency, Representation, Accountability, Learning for improved results. Besides key pillars, civil society organizations from each member country will respond to a series of key priorities via project proposals. In the Republic of Moldova these priorities are:
·Monitoring the quality of public education services;
·Strengthening institutional capacities of civil society organizations which work in the area of or promote "civil accountability" as part of their core activities.
The Electronic Governance Center encourages the civil society to submit innovating projects, which will use modern technologies for monitoring the quality of public education services and with the aim of social accountability. CGE is open to cooperation with the civil society for project implementation purposes.
