One of the most popular digital services, developed by the e-Governance Agency, has been used for eight years. Since 14 September 2012, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova have been able to sign documents, requests to institutions or declarations online, as well as to access electronic services remotely, using a mobile phone.

Mobile Signature works as an identity card in the virtual environment and allows identity authentication using a mobile phone. It should be noted that the electronic document with a digital signature are equivalent to a paper document with a handwritten signature.

Applicants can quickly obtain the mobile signature from mobile phone operators. To do this, they should only show their identity card and fill in an application form, which takes no more than 15 minutes. The applicant's SIM card is replaced with a special SIM card, which includes the mobile signature. The mobile signature is also available for Moldovan citizens living abroad.

Mobile signature diversifies the options of applying the electronic signature on documents provided by the Government Electronic Signature Service - MSign.

The e-service Mobile Signature was developed as part of a public-private partnership between the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service and mobile phone operators. The Republic of Moldova is among the top 7 countries in the world that launched such a service.
