EGC participates as expert in Conference “Global initiative for fiscal transparency” in USA

Within June 20 – 21, 2016, the Electronic Governance Centre participates in Conference „Global initiative for fiscal transparency” carried out in Washington D.C., USA.
The EGC director executive, Iurie Turcanu, presented within the event the National Action Plan for an Open Governance 2016 – 2018 of the Republic of Moldova, against the Open Government Partnership background. Therefore, Iurie Turcanu talked about our country’s performances in this field, as well as the ambitions/challenges in making the fiscal field more transparent.
In addition, the best practices in the field have been shared by experts from Brazil and Philippines – countries that have an illustrative experience in fiscal transparency, which participated into an open dialogue with invitees attending the event. The Conference met representatives of governments from over 10 countries from across the world, which identified the challenges and opportunities in transparency agenda, Action Plan, OGP (2016-2018), as well as efficient methods for the involvement of public in the use of public resources.
The Conference „Global initiative for fiscal transparency” seeks to encourage the cooperation and exchange of experience so that the process of making the fiscal field more transparent be effective at a global level. Against this background, the Electronic Governance Centre seeks to improve and implement good practices in the field to explore the possibility of adoption and implementation of joint commitments on fiscal transparency.
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) was launched in 2011 and since then it cooperated with 69 partners to develop over 100 action plans with over 2500 reform commitments for an open government. OGP concern the undertaking of governments in transparency promotion, fighting corruption and use of technological innovations in the act of government, in the dialogue with citizens and policy-making.
The Republic of Moldova is part of Open Government Partnership from 2011 and so far, it implemented two action plans as part of this platform. Previously, the Electronic Government Centre launched an open appeal on commitment proposals for the third Action Plan in a wider format.
