EGA invited to EU4Moldova: Startup City Cahul

The modernization of local public services and digital innovations for Cahul was the subject of the presentation made by the Deputy Director of e-Governance Agency who participated today, as a speaker, in the EU4Moldova: Startup City Cahul event. The action is part of the series of events dedicated to Europe Day 2021, held throughout May.
In his presentation, Gheorghe Ursoi spoke about the importance of using the digitization process for the benefit of citizens and about digital projects developed in the Republic of Moldova at the local level. These projects aimed at helping localities increase their autonomy in terms of technologies to build state-of-the-art, secure and high-performance digital services, which will bring benefits to all citizens of the country, regardless of their place of residence.
"The e-Governance Agency has proven its usefulness, capacity and competence in these exceptional circumstances in terms of public health, which have strengthened our conviction and motivated us to deliver concrete results. One of the challenges I need to inform you about today is the launch of a new public service, about which all citizens, including local public authorities in Cahul, should know that electronic public services will now only be closer to people, not only a click away, but also a step away from home once the Unified Service Delivery Centres (CUPS) are inaugurated", Gheorghe Ursoi explained in his speech.
The participants in the event learned about the ongoing projects implemented by EGA and the prospects they offer for community development, as well as about the public services that are made available to public authorities, the private sector and the people of Cahul. Gheorghe Ursoi also referred to the digital literacy projects promoted by the EGA, designed to increase the level of access to electronic services by various categories of beneficiaries. In his speech, he stressed that EGA designs its activities and objectives in correlation with the EU strategies in the digital field, as laid down in the digital transformation programmes, such as DIGITAL EUROPE 2021-2027 and the Europe’s Digital Decade 2030, to which the Republic of Moldova aligns through its projects for e-transformation and modernization of public services both centrally and locally.
The event was broadcast live and brought together people interested in IT, entrepreneurs, representatives of educational communities, business people, investors, representatives of local and national media and aimed to facilitate the transfer of knowledge in the southern region of the Republic of Moldova, enabling digital transformation and reorientation in terms of development of workforce, entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.
