Digitalization on the business sector agenda

"We will reform the IT governance model in the Government and we will be much more agile than we have been so far," said the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization Iurie Turcanu, invited today, 8 September, by the European Business Association (EBA) at an online meeting, to discuss the Government's digitalization agenda and the business sector's recommendations for improving the business climate.

The event was organized as part of the Academy of Economic Journalism and aimed at discussing the digitalization priorities in the context of preparing the Government Action Plan and the Strategy on the digitalization of the Republic of Moldova.

The discussion was attended by representatives of EBA member companies and journalists specializing in the economy, who came up with concrete proposals on improving electronic public services, offered digital solutions for business development and for improving the regulatory framework in this sector and asked questions to the Deputy Prime Minister about the prospects of economy digitalization.

In the context of the discussions on the digitalization package, Iurie Turcanu said: “The state must offer favourable conditions for the good development of entrepreneurship in terms of digital transformation and maximum accessibility and turnkey digital solutions must be offered. Together with the e-Governance Agency, the Public Services Agency and the Information Technology and Cyber ​​Security Service, we will work and develop these projects with a well-trained team”.

The Deputy Prime Minister also referred to the development of a separate concept on data governance, stressing that a unique data classification model would soon be presented.

EBA members appreciated the presence of a team focused on digitalization in the current Government and expressed several wishes and proposals including: cost optimization and expanding the range of digital services and products, improving the legal framework, noting that there is an acute need for digitalization to achieve a competitive economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister answered the questions of the participants and mentioned that there is a phenomenal openness to digitalization from many institutions, including development partners, and the dialogue with these stakeholders has already started and will soon materialize in a very well defined plan, the implementation of which in practice will require maximum engagement. The official thanked those present at the event for their increased interest, announcing, at the same time, that he proposes an active communication with journalists, on different platforms, in order to inform the population and promote a digital education, training skills in this field so that those products, platforms and services are assimilated and widely used by citizens, the business sector and other communities.
