The Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization was introduced to the team of the e-Governance Agency (eGA) by the Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita. During the visit to the eGA, the head of the Government mentioned that digitalization is a priority of the government team, and the appointment of Iurie Turcanu as a Deputy Prime Minister is an appreciation of the work done by eGA's team over the years.

"We live in a world where technology is becoming more and more important and, at the same time, it helps us to fulfil the mandate we have from the citizens. There is a lot to be done in this field. We want the government institutions to have an effective communication in the interest of citizens. We depend on information systems and we must act so that these systems bring benefits and do not create restrictions. I urge you to team up and win the respect of the citizens", said Natalia Gavrilita.

In his turn, the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization Iurie Turcanu specified that the priorities of the government team in the field of digitalization are the following: accessibility of services for citizens in the country and in the diaspora, as well as optimization of administrative processes in the public sector, taking into account identification of solutions, organization of processes, maintenance and application of IT technology.

"We have a unique opportunity and we should make the most of it. We will join forces with all the institutions concerned to achieve the objectives of the new government in this area. In everything we do, by providing services, by generating operational efficiency, by creating conditions for the use of information technology, we will focus on citizens' interests", mentioned Iurie Turcanu.

The Government of the Republic of Moldova, appointed on August 6, 2021, includes for the first time a Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization. Before being appointed to this position, Iurie Turcanu worked in the e-Governance Agency since the foundation of the institution. During this time, he achieved excellent results, and was included in the World's Top of the Most Influential People in Digital Government, a ranking made by the global learning platform for government "Apolitical". Iurie Turcanu is an excellent specialist in the field and an active promoter of digitalization and technological progress.
