Cybersecurity – a current issue, actively discussed among Eastern Partnership Member States

The EGA Director, Olga Tumuruc, participated in the workshop “Digital transformation and public administration reform: ensuring resilience and reducing risks”, which took place on 12-13 October in Tallinn, Estonia. The event was organized by the Estonian Centre for International Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic with the support of the European Commission and was an opportunity for participants to discuss and share experience and best practices aimed at improving the resilience of local and regional governments against cyber threats in regional health infrastructure and their ability to mitigate the security risks of digitalization in public administration.

The basic topics discussed at the event included: cyber ​​security in digital transformation; implementation of digital transformation in the central and local public administration; information security challenges and standards; cybersecurity legislation, etc.

The experts also presented the cybersecurity infrastructure model in the Czech Republic. They presented the case study on the management of cybersecurity risks, but also of health security incidents.

In turn, the participants, who represented the Eastern Partnership states, shared their experience of digitalization of public administration, while providing information and good practices on cybersecurity in the e-health infrastructure.

"We have had fruitful bilateral talks with colleagues in the Czech Republic. We identified the possibility of a partnership in the field of digital transformation and we agreed on collaboration opportunities in the cybersecurity area", Olga Tumuruc said.

Estonia is recognized as a European leader in the implementation of electronic solutions in e-Governance and public access to these solutions. Over the recent years, it has become one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, as digital public services are fully integrated into the daily lives of citizens and organizations. Therefore, the Estonian model of e-governance is an inspirational one for Eastern European countries.
