Cyber Security Month launched – one of the most important approach to increase public awareness on the cyber threats
Today, October 1, the Public Library B. P. Hasdeu hosted the Cyber Security Month launching event.
This is the third edition of the event and is organized by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, at initiative of the Electronic Government Center, within the context of the European Cyber Security Month, which is the most important European approach to increase public awareness on the threats of this nature.
Thus, throughout October, a series of activities for civil servants, citizens, business and civil society shall be organized. Also, this month shall be focused on round tables and thematic discussions on various aspects of digital security. All these belong to the circuit of the most important European events in the field.
Invitees as Iurie Turcanu, Chief Technology Officer and Veaceslav Puscasu, Information Security Manager within the Electronic Government Center, Evan Tracz, Country Manager IREX Moldova and Novateca Programme Coordinator, Daniela Misail-Nichitin, La Strada Executive Director, as well as Mariana Harjevschi, Managing Director, Municipal Library B. P. Hasdeu responded to questions concerning the most important technological and legal aspects of cyber security.
“10 years ago, the cyber security was a field specific to only those people involved in information technologies, but today it has turned into an area of general interest that should be taught in schools. Who are the largest consumers of information technologies? The teenagers. Namely they are the ones who convince their parents that they need internet, phones, tablets...In the given context, the evolution of technologies involve a number of risks that you should treat with due seriousness”, the Information Security Manager within the Center for Electronic Governance, V. Puscasu said.
Cyber security represents a priority for the Government of Moldova. The proper use of the technological modernization tools can provide secure access to data and services and efficient fight against corruption.
The Republic of Moldova is one of the most important partners from Central and Eastern Europe which joined the EU in a common effort with a view to ensuring information security along with countries like Germany, Estonia, France, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
