At the annual summit of the Open Government Partnership, the Moldovan Government will assume the most ambitious commitment

October 31st, 2013 , CHIŞINĂU - Representatives of the Republic of Moldova’s Government and civil society will participate, between October 31st - November 1st at the annual Summit of the Open Government Partnership , held in London , UK. Our country is represented at the event by the executive director of the Center for Electronic Governance, Stela MOCAN, the "Open Government" coordinator at the Centre for Electronic Governance, Irina TIŞACOVA and the Moldovan Ambassador in the United Kingdom, Iulian FRUNTAŞU. In addition to government representatives, the Summit will also be attended by civil society members from the Soros Moldova Foundation, ADEPT Association, the Open Government Consortium, Expert Group, the National Youth Council of Moldova, the Moldovan Association of IT Professionals and Trimetrica.
At the Summit, the Government will undertake the most ambitious commitment, namely to develop the open data strategy and alignment with international principles within the initiative. The Government has already achieved visible results in this context. According to the Open Data Index 2013 - published by the Open Knowledge Foundation - Moldova ranks within the top 10 members of the Open Government Partnership in terms of opening data. The implementation of the Strategy for open data will contribute to the initiative advancement, to opening more public data in open formats and with reusability right. Recently, the Parliament approved the Law on the reuse of public information and, by the end of the year, the new version of the portal date.gov.md will be released.
The opening of governmental data and the approval of the open data policy represent declared priorities of the government and will be consulted with the civil society. Following the Summit, the Center for Electronic Governance will colaborate more actively with the civil society in order to finalize and approve the new action plan for an open governance until the end of the year. Recently , the Moldovan Government has launched the elaboration and consultation process for the new action plan for open government for 2014 .
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) was launched in 2011 as an international platform for reformers engaged in making their governments more open, more accountable and responsive to citizens' needs. The Summit in London - attended by governments and civil society representatives from over 60 countries - will focus on five key policies: Open Data, Public Integrity, Fiscal Transparency, Citizens Accountability and Natural Resources Transparency.
