Republic of Moldova is the host of the first Public Sector Innovation and Productivity Forum

Chisinau, December 10, 2013 – The Electronic Government Center, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme in Moldova, are organising between December 10 and 11,  The Public Sector Innovation and Productivity Forum, within the reform process of the local public administration and the governance e-Transformation agenda. The event is attended by Government representatives, world-class experts, coordinators for e-transformation within the Government and development partners.  

During this Forum, participants will discuss about the governments' ability to adapt to rapid changes generated by modern technologies and also about the way in which they respond to the problems and challenges in the development process. Also, there will be discussions on the topic of innovation ecosystem within the government, using tools and techniques of design-thinking in order to promote public sector innovations and fostering a culture for innovation and performance in the public sector.

  Iurie Leanca,  the Prime Minister of Moldovian Government says: “I am convinced that the application of modern technologies on a large scale will allow us to enhance the public administration’s performance and to develop an innovative and competitive economy at a regional and European level."

Executive Director of e-Government Center,  Stela Mocan: “An innovative, and thus productive, public sector can only bring valuable benefits in its relations with citizens and also with its partners from other countries. Innovation is crucial in a market economy and in a country like Moldova, which is aspiring to European values and standards. By innovating, being up to date with the new information technologies, we bring our citizens and our country to a higher and more competitive level."

UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova,  Nicola Harrington-Buhay says: "Organized in a special context, when in Moldova significant administrative reforms are being implemented, today's event creates an opportunity to see how different countries around the world have reviewed the way in which public services are provided, also including the way in which consumers are involved in establishing the design of the services. We have the opportunity to learn innovative techniques and technologies, with a huge potential for Moldova in implementing qualitative and efficient public services, which will bring citizens closer to public authorities."

Representatives of the governments of Denmark (MinLab), Australia (DesignGov), experts and practitioners from Singapore (Institute of Systems Science, National University of Singapore), USA (The GovLab) will be presenting the most innovative trends, approaches and successful practices for ensuring a performing public administration and for delivering quality public services

Within the Forum, will be brought into discussion the ways to redefine the model of public service delivery by involving and consulting the beneficiaries and by using modern technologies.
