[6]Over 70 young students from UTM, USM and ASEM discussed with the representatives of the e-Government Centre (EGC) and foreign experts about cyber and information security. The meeting was part of the "Information Security Week", held at the Government, during October 15-19.
During the meeting, students learned about ways to protect personal data on the Internet, about the problems they may face when placing confidential information, personal photos and other data on social networks and other online communication platforms.
Ion, one of the participants in the discussions, student at UTM noted that "the information security spirit needs to be cultivated. We don’t have it yet in the country".
In response, Veaceslav Puscasu, Information Security Manager at EGC said that "information security is a new field in the Republic of Moldova, something that only makes its way".
But if "you are a specialist in information technology and you know the new technologies and information security, you will have a safe workplace", said Richard Marshall, vice-president of Axon Global Services and founder of X-SES Consultants, because "Information is the new international oil", he added.
During the event they also discussed legal and economic aspects of information security.
"Information Security in Government Week" was held under the slogan "Make yourself at home in cyberspace, be safe" and included a series of activities addressed to public servants, businesses, civil society and citizens.
Youth meeting with local and international experts was the last activity during "Information Security in Government Week".
