THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON DIGITAL SECURITY IS HELD IN REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA [3]
Chișinău, October 4th – The government of Republic of Moldova organizes the high-level international forum on digital security „Successful transformations in the digital world". The Forum is organized as part of the "Cyber Security Month in the Government" and "The European Cyber Security Month". The event will be attended by the Prime Minister Iurie LEANCĂ, Estonia’s President Toomas HENDRIK ILVES, ministers, civil servants, civil society representatives.
According to the Prime Minister, Iurie LEANCĂ, the Government's priority is to become the guarantor of secure online transactions, both for citizens and for businesses. "Estonia has shown that a small country from Eastern Europe can be a world leader in terms of e -government and cyber security. We have a lot to learn from Estonia and we will strengthen our bilateral cooperation", said the Prime Minister.
Estonia’s President presented the evolution of his country in the electronic governance field. Toomas HENDRIK ILVES: "Moldova is progressing rapidly in terms of e-Government system implementation. Most certainly, in this early period, you will meet many skeptics who will tell you that what you do is useless. As it was in the case of Estonia. But you must be brave, especially those in the Government, and then many people will be happy. Watching Moldova developing, including in terms of ensuring cyber security, I can assure you that you will be able to turn your country into a successful model. You should know that it is a long process, but once you successfully apply these changes, you'll see how happy people are."
"Estonia's experience in the e-Governance field is very advanced and worth following", says the executive director of the Center for Electronic Governance, Stela MOCAN. According to her, the model of online interaction of the Estonian authorities with the citizens, but also with foreign investors, should be replicated in Republic of Moldova.
Republic of Moldova is one of the most important partners in Central and Eastern Europe to have joined the EU joint effort to ensure informational security, along with countries like Germany, Estonia, France, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The objectives of the "Cyber Security Month in the Government" event include: safe use of the internet, security of personal data, increasing the population’s awareness regarding the threats in the online environment.
