The Citizen's Government Portal was launched in the Republic of Moldova [3]

The Electronic Governance Agency (EGA) presented today, 27 October 2020, a new product designed to simplify citizens' access to data from registers held by government institutions and electronic services – the Citizen's Government Portal.

It is a portal consisting of a set of interconnected information resources and technologies, designed to provide citizens with an efficient and modern mechanism for obtaining official information of public interest and documentary information about themselves, available in the registers and information systems of data providers, through a single access point, a virtual cabinet, referred to as MCabinet.

At the launch event of the Citizen's Government Portal, Iurie Turcanu, EGA Director, Vlad Manoil, Head of Project and Product Management Department, EGA, and Igor Bercu, Project Manager, EGA, presented and explained the benefits and opportunities provided by the new information resource.

The Citizen's Government Portal can be used by accessing:  mcabinet.gov.md [6]. It presents official sources of information on issues of public interest, such as the evolution of the pandemic situation in the Republic of Moldova, presidential elections and other current information. At the same time, MCabinet contains several blocks of data that can be accessed by authentication, so that the user can obtain information about himself/herself from various registers and databases held by government institutions. For example, valid identity documents, social contributions and benefits, owned property, information about the family doctor and the medical institution where the person is registered, tax payments and other information related to the citizen-government relationship.

Also, in cases when a citizen has to solve a problem, MCabinet offers recommendations on how it can be solved, what steps the user should take and what electronic services are available in that case. For example, if a person wishes to obtain a new driving license or pay a fine, the portal will provide the most efficient information, which ensure maximum safety and comfort.

Another priority of the Citizen's Government Portal is transparency of its method of collecting and using personal data. This information is confidential and will not be passed on to other third parties, unless the holder of such data gives his/her consent to di that or, in accordance with the regulatory framework, at the request of the law enforcement authorities. At the same time, MCabinet users can track who accessed their personal data and for what purpose.

The launch event of the Citizen's Government Portal (MCabinet) was attended by representatives of government institutions that contributed to its creation and play a key role in updating the information on this portal further, as follows: National Social Insurance Office, Information Technology and Cyber Security Service, Public Services Agency, Information Technology Service (ITS) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Tax Service and other public institutions.

The e-Governance Agency will continue to implement new innovative projects, and in the near future it will launch other new products, which will be presented to the public as part of the communication campaign carried out between 10 October and 20 December 2020, dedicated to the 10 years of activity of the Electronic Governance Agency and 10 years of e-Governance in the Republic of Moldova.
